The exhibition consists of two works, “Iceboat”, a 13-minute video of Choksi’s performance at Pavana Lake, Lonavala; and a suite of eight cyanograms titled “Sky Fold”. Both works offer hugely varying meditative spaces that consider presence and absence. In the suite of cyanograms, shades of blues are segregated with folds. The prints in “Sky Fold”, made with the cyanotype process, used mostly in architectural blueprints, only reflect the methods of their production. The abstraction of the blues within each fold feels like a part of sky reflected famously on glass facades of buildings or in water on a clear day. In an age where almost everyone has a kind of camera that is aimed at the sky every so often, Choksi manages to bring the sky into a gallery without ever having to wait for a clear day. Which is not to say she creates fluffy white clouds or a sunset, but a more abstract suggestion of the sky. “Sky Fold” leaves you with the feeling of soaring through the sky, endlessly.
