New Age: Munem Wasif’s solo exhibition starts in Austria

Photographer Munem Wasif’s solo mixed-media exhibition titled Jomin o Joban: A Tale of The Land began in Salzburg, Austria on Wednesday.

The exhibition, which has been organised in cooperation with Stadtgalerien Salzburg and Summer Academy, opened its doors to visitors on Thursday at Stadtgalerie Musemspavillon, said a press release.

Between documentation and fiction, his works create open narratives of revised history and contemporary events. His works offer the audience poetic and sensitive insights into global issues such as food sovereignty, labour slavery, and border regimes, the release reads.

He is exhibiting artworks including installations of photography, moving images, archive material and found objects.

With image-based works, the artist Munem Wasif, also a senior photography tutor at the Pathshala South Asian Media Institute, explores the concept of the trace in its various forms, the release adds.

Earlier, Munem Wasif exhibited his works in countries including France, Hong Kong, Switzerland, Thailand, England and Myanmar.
