The sculptures in the third segment, all function as studies responding to the iconographies in temple architecture. Self Portrait,
Nagalinga Pushpa and Self Portrait, Nude Pouring Water, are influenced by the decorative pillars or wall sculptures in south Indian
temples. Self Portrait as My Mother echos the intricate hair-braids of Yakshis. It is also a personal tribute to Bhat’s mother, who has
a special bond with her jasmine plant and always dresses with a jasmine garland in her hair.
