Raqs Media Collective at NMACC

31 March - 9 June 2024
The second floor of the Art House at NMACC, invites viewers into a temporal universe created by Raqs Media Collective, showcasing a set of five works. Raqs’ presence in the show becomes a reflection on time, exposing us to the past, present and future. The central work, Escapement (2008), is a collection of twenty-seven almost identical clocks, each allocated to a city (real or imaginary), with the hands set to their respective time zones. In a twist, the clock faces are marked with emotions rather than hours, underlining the fragile functions of our daily lives. An AR intervention is also incorporated into the space. Their installation continues into the staircases with the work Nerve (2018), which acts as the underbelly and passageway from one artist’s space to another.

Liminal Gaps is on at Nita Mukesh Ambai Center through June 9th.
