"Invitation For A Coup": Prajakta Potnis At The Kiran Nadar Museum Of Art, New Delhi

Prajakta's multidisciplinary practice spans through a variety of mediums including painting. site-specific sculptural installations and public art interventions. She completed her BFA and MFA from the Sir J. J. School of Arts, Mumbai. Her recent participations include Gwangju Biennale (2016), Kochi Muziris Biennale (2014), 'After Midnight' at the Queens Museum, New York (2015), and 'Shamans and Dissent', a part of The West Heavens Project Shanghai at the TZ Hanart Gallery, Hong Kong.

 Her recent solo projects include When the Wind Blows', Project 88, Mumbai (2016) and 'Porous walls, The Guild, Mumbai (2008) among others. In 2014 she was a recipient of KiW Stiftung grant for International Studio Programme at Künstlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin where she showcased the project 'The Kitchen Debate'. Prajakta lives and works in Mumbai.

 

The series Invitation for a Coup' proposes a space or a bricolage as created by an interaction and catalyzed by the artist's speech. Each of the nine participating artists lead us into a discussion/construction with anchors drawn from their art practice. It works toward implicating oneself and one's peers into a stutter with utmost force. The series is curated by Akansha Rastogi.
