Imagine aspiring to, shrinking from and spurning intimacy; now imagine doing all this simultaneously and ceaselessly.
How do you map something that does not abide by the rules of cartography?
How does one even begin to understand something that lies outside of mapping controversies?
This project, curated by Gitanjali Dang/Khanabadosh, draws on greater and lesser acts of intimacy across habitual categories such as human/nonhuman and culture/nature. With research stemming from Freud’s ‘porcupine dilemma’, this ongoing conversation is unpacked by 14 artistic positions, and includes artists currently in residence at Delfina Foundation.
